Happy Birthday, 90s Style

A friend of mine who is of a certain age where he would get this reference to the song by Tag Team had his birthday yesterday.  Yes, so now he's another year older.  Yikes!

I hot-foiled some stars on the background using the Lawn Fawn Starry Sky Hot Foil Plate with a strip of Spellbinders Glimmer hot foil. I colored up the Taylored Expressions Feisty Square Calendar Card image with Copics and placed it on the black mat on the card front.

On the inside of the card I used an ombre ink pad on the sentiment to mimic the angle of the stars on the front. Subtle and cool effect.

ATSM #464 - Any Occasion

The latest Addicted to Stamps and More Challenge is for any occasion you can think of.  Birthday? Sympathy? Christmas?  Whatever tickles your fancy is on the menu.

I had the Lawn Fawn Starry Sky Hot Foil Plate out so decided to make a few backgrounds to have on hand. I love how they turned out and used them in short order to create a couple of holiday cards, pairing them with the Spellbinders Bottle Brush Trees Duo and Lawn Fawn Snow Flurries Backdrop.

Look how different they turned out just with the colors alone but also the glitter (swoon!) and change in sentiments.  It would be really easy to mass produce unique cards.

ATCAS #254 - Bloom

At the latest Addicted to CAS Challenge #254 the code word is "bloom." I took the opportunity to use an AALL & Create set I didn't have a chance to use last year.  And by last year, I guess I mean 2022.  BUT, at least I'm using it!

I sponged Distress Oxide onto a card panel then stamped the image with Versafine Clair Nocturne.  I used an old gift card to add some extra horizontal and vertical lines.  A touch of gold in the sentiment and the center of the poinsettia adds just the glamorous pop I love.

CAS on Friday #279 - Easter

I love occasionally looking through my stash to remind myself of what I have.  Yes, absolutely, I sometimes get sidetracked because so many cute cute sets but how else would I have refound this MFT Somebunny set that needed some love and was the perfect set to use for the latest CAS on Friday #279 Easter Challenge?

I even took the opportunity to use up some patterned paper scraps by paper-piecing her dress.  Just adorable!  Note if you were to make this design, including the paper-piecing, you wouldn't even need to mask off the bunny to get the grass behind since the paper-pieced dress will color it.  Nifty!

ATSM #463 - Birthdays

It's birthday time at the Addicted to Stamps and More Challenge #463. Come help us celebrate; it's someone's birthday every day!

For my card I wanted to use a rainbow clouds background I had made for another project but screwed up the bottom--talk about smudgy.  The ground of the theme park covered that up nicely.

The slider mechanism is really easy for this one.  It's just a simple slot that you surround with foam beneath to create a hidden channel, making sure to leave sufficient room for the slider element to, well, slide.  It's easy to create your own slider doohickey with a small circle of cardstock and a foam dot. I've had the foam dot stick a bit on the sides (embossing anti-static powder or cornstarch helps with that) so like using MFT slider elements instead.

I colored up the images using Copics, modeling the roller coaster after King Island's The Beast which was the largest operational wooden roller coaster back in my day.  Maybe it still is.

I love riding roller coasters but am not sure my older body could tolerate it. Ack!  My spine!  LOL.
